The National Instruments PXIe-LCR5101 (Part Number: 867126-03) is an expandable PXI system that is designed to accurately measure and characterize discrete electrical components. This system consists of a PXIe-4190 LCR Meter and Source Measure Unit (SMU) in a heavy-duty PXIe-1083 5-slot chassis. The core of the system is the PXIe-4190, a dual instrument that serves as a precision Source Measure Unit for measuring and sourcing DC voltage and current as well as a 500 kHz LCR Meter for inductance (L), 1 capacitance (C), and resistance (R) measurements. This dual function capability allows the user to measure capacitance down to the fF level and source voltage and current at ranges of up to 10 V and 100 mA, respectively. These combined functionalities create an all-in-one solution for both passive and active component analysis.
This PXIe-LCR5101 bundle is perfect for characterizing a variety of electronic components and is made for automated testing in research, qualification, and production settings. Applications range from the testing of capacitors, inductors and resistors to the more complex validation of semiconductor devices. The consuming PXIe-1083 provides the required power and cooling with a slot capacity of up to 58 W thus dealing with the demanding nature of the PXIe-4190 module and future expansion. The system is made to be completely integrated and utilizes several necessary accessories, like a Thunderbolt cable for speedy data transfer to a host controller and a DSUB to BNC connector.
In terms of software, the product has been optimized for use with National Instruments Test Workflow, which comprises a number of industry-standard test systems, such as TestStand for managing test sequencing, LabVIEW for graphical system design, and InstrumentStudio for interactive measurement control. Because it is so simple to interface software and hardware, engineers may create complex automated test suites for use in both routine laboratory work and more difficult high-volume production testing. This leads to accurate and consistent results through impedance analysis and DC parametric characterization.
